All nominees were selected by professionals in the energy industry and the 25 finalists were selected by the editors at Hart Energy. These 25 women were chosen based on their significant professional achievements, demonstrated leadership abilities and contribution and service to the energy industry and the community at large. Hart Energy held a luncheon in Houston on February 12th to honor the 25 finalists. The event had over 1,000 people in attendance to recognize the remarkable accomplishments of this group of industry leaders.

Mrs. Followill is a Senior Managing Director and Head of Research for U.S. Capital Advisors. A petroleum engineer, Mrs. Followill began her career at Tenneco where she spent 11 years working across various divisions including Tenneco Inc., Tennessee Gas Pipeline and Tenneco Oil Company. After Tenneco, she moved to the financial sector as a securities analyst covering natural gas and power at Merrill Lynch and Howard Weil before moving to midstream energy coverage at Tutor Pickering, Holt & Co. where she was a Managing Director and Head of Midstream Research. Mrs. Followill holds a Bachelor of Science degree in Petroleum Engineering from Texas A&M University and a Masters of Business Administration from the University of Houston.
